Reggae Music has long been there for stoners. It was the soundtrack, for many of us, to our first times smoking cannabis, and it has been inspiring us with its messages, vibes and styles ever since.
Santa Cruz is a happy home for both Cannabis and Reggae music, and this week logged another chapter in the history of this legacy when Protoje came through with Lila Iké and blessed the town with a powerful set.
We first linked up with Protoje back in March 2016 when he visited our kitchen and burned one with us. Since then, we always make an effort to connect with him and his touring team when they come through Santa Cruz.
This time, some of Protoje’s crew stayed at Big Pete’s. When they came into town, we had the pleasure of sharing some pre-rolls at Big Pete’s Tiki Hut before heading down to the Catalyst to visit Protoje on his bus.
It was great to see one of our favorite musicians in good health and bright spirits. Kicking it on the bus with him for a half hour was a good time and got us excited to see the performance later that night.
